acerThis time Acer introduced new lapto - Acer Aspire 5672WLMi LXAA706003, Core Duo 1.66 GHz, 2 GB (DDR2 SDRAM) RAM, 120 GB Serial ATA, 5400 RPM hard drive, 15.4 in. WXGA TFT Active Matrix display, Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology.

The Acer Aspire 5672 is a fully equipped yet remarkably portable notebook for users who work hard and play hard.Boasting powerful Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology, it also features ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics, an integrated webcam and 15.4” wide-screen display with Acer CrystalBrite Technology. Laptops based on Intel’s mobile dual-core processor provide the performance, flexibility and freedom to work, have fun and communicate where you need to with increased capabilities at home or on the go.

Acer Aspire 5672WLMi 1280 x 800 widescreen is bright and well-lit giving a clear and crisp desktop. However, even with the glossy colour-enriching ‘CrystalBrite’ coating, some colours were subdued. Viewing angles were modest too. But lag was minimal and watching movies was enjoyable - unfortunately the same can’t be said for gaming. The ATI X1400 Mobility graphics couldn’t cut it in our games benchmarks with framerates hovering around 10fps in both Far Cry and Half-Life 2. It’s strange because the low-end GPU is flanked by a very high-end 512MB of memory. You’ll have to seriously drop detail settings to get the latest releases anywhere near playable. Also disappointing were the tinny speakers which, lacked punch in our tests.

Acer Aspire 5672WLMi glossy 15.4in WXGA display, which has a 16ms response time and a native resolution of 1280×800, has a display dimming feature that activates when the notebook isn’t in use, even if it is plugged in, to increase the longevity of the LCD.Connectivity is excellent — support for Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) is included. EDR allows for a data transfer rate of (up to) 3Mbps, three times the bandwidth of Bluetooth 1.1. Dedicated multimedia hot keys line the side of the keyboard and provide user access to Acer’s multimedia platform, the “Acer Arcade”, when the operating system is running.

Acer Aspire 5672WLMi Battery life was modest, varying from one-and-a half hours to two hours 22 minutes in our intensive use and light use tests respectively. Its 3kg weight also slightly limits portability. But all in all, it’s an attractive system and great value at $2532.

Acer Aspire 5672WLMiReviews:-

# Pcauthority Review:- The keyboard was one of the best and is very comfortable to type on — each key press is well-weighted and crisp. The trackpad was also favourable, though the buttons click a little too loudly.

# Notebookcheck Review:- Strange no one wants a notebook reviewed in January but there is a glut in March! Here I am looking at Intel Centrino Duo processor in an Acer Aspire 5672 notebook. The notebook is 35×27x4cm and weights around 3kilos. I would probably say this was a desktop replacement as it most likely be too large for most to carry around regularly. It has a 15.4inch screen and the default resolution is 1280×800, there is a ATA Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics chip, the unit can support dual displays and there are both analogue and digital outputs. The screen surround is 25.5×35.5cm with the actual screen dimensions of 21×33cm.

# Pcworld Review:- Unfortunately, we encountered a lot of problems with the Bluetooth phone when configuring and pairing with the notebook, as well as adjusting for what audio should be channelled through your desktop speakers and what audio should be channelled through your phone speaker.
