A very nice, well designed good looking laptop, its light enough and slim enough to take anywhere (I use the train a lot), I have no issues whatsoever with Vista. perfomance is very acceptable.

The M1530, like the M1330 before it, is slightly wedge-shaped, going from 1.2 inches in the front to 1.5 inches in the rear. At a hair under 6 pounds, it’s a bit lighter than most 15-inch laptops we’ve seen, and the overall look is slim and attractive. A few color options are offered, although the only difference is in the back of the lid, which is available in black, white, or red. Our review unit had the matte-red finish (Dell calls it crimson red), which looks great and is the color seen in Dell’s ads and promotional materials. More color options (as with the current Inspiron line of laptops) would have been welcome.

This magnetic disk provides you with space to save programs and files indefinitely–or at least for the life of the drive. Notebook hard drives can provide up to 120GB of storage–some notebooks incorporate two 120GB drives for extra storage space–but these giant drives cost hundreds of dollars more than the default 60GB to 80GB notebook drives. The 60GB to 80GB drive should be sufficient, unless you store lots of music and movies or tons of pictures. Be warned that capacity alone does not make a good hard drive. The hard disk’s rotational speed also makes a big difference; a 7,200rpm notebook disk delivers significantly faster performance than a 5,400rpm model. The faster the disk spins, the better your notebook will perform overall, though a faster disk will also shorten your laptop’s battery life.

The XPS m1530’s remote has all of the standard Media Center features, as well as a small LCD screen that displays music and video track information; notably, it also has a built-in microgyroscope that lets you wave the remote at the display and control the cursor, sort of like a magic wand mouse. A separate Bluetooth mouse is also included.

Dell XPS M1530 Laptop Computer reviews from cnet

The good
: Thin, sexy design; strong performance; includes media remote control and HDMI output.

The bad: Not as revolutionary as the previous 13-inch version; fewer configuration options than Dell’s Inspiron line.

The bottom line
: Dell’s turn toward a “design-first” philosophy continues to pay off with the XPS M1530, easily the best-looking 15-inch laptop in recent memory.

Dell XPS M1530 Laptop Computer reviews from dell

Pros

I cannot say anything bad about this model’s performance and reliablity. I’m using mine for online college classes, so I can’t have any problems or my work will suffer, and this computer has worked perfectly since day one. The fingerprint scanner works every time, and despite some people’s comments about the reflections on the glossy screen, I honestly have no issues with it. The clarity and visibilty don’t suffer at all from the glossy design, at least in my view. I’ve also noticed some comments about the heat it puts off, but really, whoever made these comments must have been typing for hours on end to complain about heat. Of course there is some heat output, but that’s the case with any laptop. The graphics for gaming are amazing, with little or no lag time and crystal clear animation.

Cons

The only minor complaints I can make are that the built in mouse pad is a bit too small, but I use a wireless mouse anyways, so no big deal. Also, the brushed chrome finish around the keyboard can get dirty pretty quick from the oils on your hands, but it’s easily cleaned. The barrel hinge works great, but can stick a little when left in one position for a whlie.
