The Pavilion dv9700t is a desktop-replacement-level entertainment powerhouse featuring the powerful Intel Core Duo and 64-bit New Core 2 Duo processors. The 17″ WXGA high-definition widescreen with BrightView is standard as is the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS graphics card with 512MB of dedicated video memory.

The differences between the HP Pavilion dv9700t and the dv9500t we reviewed last year are subtle. Externally the two laptops are identical, but the dv9700t includes a current Penryn processor, an upgraded graphics card, and a higher display resolution. Also, the dv9500t’s HD DVD drive has (out of necessity) been replaced by a Blu-ray drive in the dv9700t.
For the money, you can’t beat the performance in a mid-range desktop replacement. I would recommend the HP Pavilion dv9700t for any consumer looking for an affordable, full-featured 17-inch notebook.

HP Pavilion dv9700t Reviews From notebookreview

Pros:
* Abundant USB ports
* HDMI
* Dual 7200RPM HD’s
* One of the best “bang for buck” when $500 coupon comes along.

Cons:
* Marginal battery life
* Too much bloatware
* No matte screen offering
* A little on the heavy side, not for the student or professional on the move

HP Pavilion dv9700t Reviews From cnet

The good:
Attractive design; bright, crisp display; Blu-ray drive; thorough set of audiovisual controls, ports, and connections; long battery life; touch pad power button; fingerprint reader.

The bad:
Mediocre gaming performance; HDMI port takes the place of one USB port; decent, but not great, speakers.

The bottom line:
The HP Pavilion dv9700t doesn’t have enough graphics power to satisfy gaming enthusiasts, but it is a great choice for home users who don’t want to spend a fortune on a Blu-ray equipped entertainment notebook.
